HTPC Build

Here's a few pics from when I built my HTPC ('04). The case is from an RCA receiver that I gutted and modified to hold my HTPC components. It seemlessly blends in with my Home Theater setup and is so quiet you have to put your ear next to it to hear it (I can't say the same for my Samsung DLP). I have since upgraded all hardware to something that can handle HD video content better (x264, Xvid, etc..).

My 'low power' micro ATX motherboard is set in approximatly where I want to mount it in the receiver.

Here is the stripped down donor PC case. All I want is enough of it to hold the ATX motherboard and cards. You can see where I drew out where I was going to cut.

I cut out the back of the receiver for the ATX panel and the expansion slots.

If you didn't notice, the CPU now has a different fan since the one that came with it couldn't run at 5 volts. This one can and is super quiet.

The clamp was when I was attaching the front panel to the DVD drive. This plan didn't work out since the drive couldn't handle the extra weight (couldn't open). The front panel now just flips up to access the drive.
